Goosebumps: The Ghost Next Door by R.L. Stine

Stine, R.L. Goosebumps: The Ghost Next Door. Scholastic, Inc., 1993. ISBN 0-439-56832-3

Plot

Hannah Fairchild, is having a boring summer at home since all her friends have left for the summer. One day a boy her age, Danny, moves next door to her claiming that he goes to school with her and is in the same grade. Hannah begins to become suspicious with Danny since She tries writing to them but they it seems that whenever she turns around Danny disappears into thin air. Her suspicions have led her to believe that Danny is a ghost but in when Danny arms goes through Hannah’s chest things are not how it seems.

Critical Evaluation

Another Goosebumps book that leaves children afraid of the dark and question whether their friends are ghost. The characters can be identifiable with the age group since they are around the same age group. This paranormal story leads the reader to believe that Danny is the ghost but turns out that Hannah has died 5 years prior to Danny’s arrival in a fire accident. Stine does not disappoint its readers with this tale that will leave you with goosebumps!
