Transformers by Michael Bay

Bay, Michael. Transformers. Dreamworks, 2007. PG 13. DVD. 143 min. ASIN B000VR0570

Plot

A long time ago, on the distant planet of Cybertron, an alien civil war was being waged between the two races of robots the good, Autobots led by Optimus Prime and the evil Decepticons commanded by Megatron for control over the Allspark, a device that would grant unlimited power to whoever possessed it. Sam Witwicky, a high school student, becomes involved with this war after his father buys him his first car, who is actually the Autobot, Bumblebee. Bumblebee defends Sam and his crush, Mikaela Banes, from the Decepticons, before the other Autobots arrive on Earth. They are searching for the Allspark and a pair of glasses that Sam has that he thought were insignificant but hold the key to using the Allspark. Both robots are in search of the glasses and the Allspark. The Decepticons and Autobots bring their war into ours but who will win?

Critical Evaluation

Michael Bay is by far one of the most loved and hated directors of all time but Transformers is one of his best. Bay movies are usually filled with explosions, violence, and car crashes. This movie does hold all these elements the only difference is the actual plot line, which is actually interesting. The movies holds true to the comics as well as the cartoons in the 80s with no differences visible to fans.

Reader's Annotation

They might seem like normal cars but that are anything but ordinary, they are alien robots! The Autobots team and Sam Witicky have to save earth from destruction by the evil Megatron.

Information about the Author

In the beginning of Bay's career he directed music videos, commercials, and lastly films. He did will in all categories but he is most known for his action packed movies. He makes quick appearances in his films, mostly notably in Transformers when he is flicked off by Megatron.

Genre

Action-Sci-fi-Thriller
